Eric Reid, one of the first players to take a knee during the national anthem alongside Colin Kaepernick, now has a job in the league he’s currently suing.
Reid, an All-Pro safety who last played for the 49ers, inked a deal with the Carolina Panthers that was announced on social media on Thursday.

Panthers general manager called the signing “a football decision” and said the safety’s ongoing collusion lawsuit against the NFL was not a factor.
“We made this decision based on the fact he’s a good football player,” Hurney told ESPN. “He’s played at a very high level the last few years. We think he can come in and help us win games.”
The terms of the contract have not been released but it is believed there is no language in it that forces Reid to dismiss or settle his collusion grievance with the NFL.
As such, it is expected to play on, much like Reid will now do for the Panthers.
“Eric has been a starting safety in the NFL and has played at a high level throughout his career,” Hurney added. “After we put Da’Norris Searcy on injured reserve, Ron [Rivera] and I discussed our options, and Eric was at the top of our list. He is a physical safety with good ball skills and play-making ability.”
