The long nightmare of the Indianapolis Colts not having their franchise quarterback on the field could be coming to an end.

Two weeks before the team is set start their preseason with a game against the Seattle Seahawks on Augst 9, Indy head coach Frank Reich said he fully expects Andrew Luck to start the opener.

According to Reich, Luck has been a “full go” at practice this week and has no limitations. He will be rested during a scheduled day off on Saturday though.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise as Indianapolis general manager Chris Ballard previously said Luck would rest frequently in order to preserve him for the regular season.

Luck missed all of last season thanks to a lingering shoulder injury and, if he does actually return to play in the preseason, it will be his first game action in 19 months.

There have been setbacks — Luck wasn’t even throwing as recently as two months ago — so Colts fans aren’t out of the woods yet, but this is certainly positive news.
