Some sporting events showcase just why taking an early lead is so important. In a close game like this year’s Pro Bowl, making the most of an early advantage can go a long way. In the game’s second half, the NFC outscored the AFC 19-14. Not a bad accomplishment — but factoring in the first half, dominated by the AFC taking a 24-14 lead, it wasn’t enough. After the final seconds ticked down, the AFC was victorious by a score of 38-33.
Lamar Jackson was named Pro Bowl Offensive MVP.
In his first Pro Bowl, Jackson was 16-of-23 for 185 yards passing. He threw two TDs and one INT for 104.4 passer rating.
Jackson had already made history, becoming the youngest QB to start a Pro Bowl.

The game itself was overshadowed by news of Kobe Bryant’s death, with players on the sidelines seeking information as the news emerged, and a tribute to Bryant being held in the stadium during a time out.
