As the saying goes, showing up is 80 percent of life.
While that’s not always true, showing up for 21 seasons just led Adrian Beltre to supplant Ichiro Suzuki on Major League Baseball’s all-time hits list for players born outside of the United States.
Beltre, who hasn’t led the league in hits since he had 199 in 2013 and has only made the All-Star team four times, notched his 3,090th hit against Dodgers righty Kenta Maeda during the fourth inning on Wednesday night.
The Texas third baseman went on to collect two more hits on the evening as the Rangers fell to the Dodgers in extra innings.
With Beltre now at the top and Suzuki in second, Rod Carew (3,053) and Albert Pujols (3,031) round out the top four on the all-time foreign-born hits list.
On the overall hits list, Beltre now trails Dave Winfield (3,110 hits) for the 20th spot.
