The Mission is spoiled for technically superior baggage.

DSPTCH. Alite. Mission Workshop.

Their specs are many and jargon-heavy: Trampoline back panels. Odor-defying shoe garages. Military-grade materials and construction.

But sometimes you just need one compartment, two handles and the kind of classic, understated silhouette that never goes out of style.

That number also lives in the Mission, at Joshu + Vela, the made-in-S.F. bag-and-packers who just opened doors on their first brick and mortar.

Founder Noah Guy is throwing a shindig to celebrate the shop’s official opening on May 29th.

You’ll want to RSVP now to save a place for brews from Fort Point, pours from Workhorse Rye and Birdview Distillery, and of course, the leather-and-canvas belles of the ball.

Some highlights among them:

The Duffle: It’s the Platonic ideal of a weekender: waxed twill, domestic tanned leather and a durable brass zipper. The nine-inch drop on the strap means it carries comfortably over your shoulder.

The Day Pack: If you’re going to commute with a backpack, it should be this one, with water-repellant canvas and leather trim. There’s also a built-in laptop sleeve, plus spring-loaded adjusters on the straps.

The Utility Tote: It’s the ultimate beach bag. Don’t believe us? Check out these images — Don Draper couldn’t have sold it better.
