Thanks to a partnership between the NFL and Google, you’ll soon be able to experience what it’s like to play on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in December from your living room in July.
Courtesy of NFL Films and a virtual reality app that was designed for Google Daydream, fans will be able to experience football in an entirely new way by watching an immersive nine-part series that was shot using a 360-degree camera and capture system. Kicking off on the NFL’s YouTube channel on Thanksgiving Day, the VR series will detail how players, cheerleaders and others prepare themselves for game day, according to a release.
The first episode will let viewers spend time with the Philadelphia Eagles D-line as they “prepare for an upcoming matchup” as well as provide access to the bench and sideline on game day.
“NFL Films has always been known for telling great football stories and capturing the emotional essence of our sport,” said Ross Ketover of NFL Films. “Using Google VR technology, there’s potential to do that in a whole new way and we’re excited to bring that perspective to our fans.”
