Already synonymous with old clothes as well as recycled clothes, outdoor gear giant Patagonia just tackled another realm of the clothing market with a new workwear line.
The items in Patagonia’s new Workwear collection use a heavy-duty fabric called Iron Forge Hemp canvas as their base. Requiring no break-in, the durable fabric is said to be 25% more resistant to abrasions than conventional cotton duck canvas and is made from 55% industrial hemp, 27% recycled polyester and 18% organic cotton.
Featuring pants, shirts, jackets and a few other items, the first offerings are designed to allow wearers to “lift, move, heave and haul” while staying comfortable and warm.
Available in most Patagonia stores and on the brand’s website, items in the collection all retail for less than $200. If you’re wondering just how serious Patagonia is in breaking into the workwear game, they’ll be opening a dedicated workwear store in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood this month.
