Unlike All Other Houses in a Box, This One Is Not an Actual Box

The Lumishell has curves for days

For those who want to experience all the great outdoors has to offer … well, you can now do it from the comfort of your living room. Just launched, Lumishell is a prefab modular home “intended to be implanted in the heart of nature.”

To that end, the three-room dwelling attempts to merge your indoor and outdoor space. Inside the cocoon, the floor-to-ceiling curved windows in the “day” and “night” rooms offer panoramic views of the outside world. They’ve even arranged the mirrors and glass in the bathroom to better capture the surrounding natural light (while still offering a modicum of privacy).

When you’re sitting in the living room or bedroom, however, you also have the option to open up those big bow windows and transform your living space into something more akin of a roofed terrace.

Transported by truck or container ship, a Lumishell can be up and running in about 4-5 days (no foundation needed — any solid, flat surface will do). Solar panel roofing and rainwater recovery keep your new abode in the “green” category, and the curved structure also offers natural cross ventilation.

Lumishells are available for pre-order now, shipping worldwide in 2018. You can take a virtual tour of the house here.
