You’ll find it in Dolce & Gabbana’s new refrigerator aisle

When it comes to refrigerators, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

But good luck selling that to an Italian (about the fridge or anything).

Chilled case in point: a new line of handpainted iceboxes from Italian appliance manufacturer Smeg made in collaboration with haute fashion house Dolce & Gabbana.

The exterior of the Fab28 refrigerators — which will be limited to a run of 100 pieces and debut at the Salone del Mobile in Milan next month  — are ornamented with frescoes of knights, horses, castles, flowers, suns, moons, the Trinacria symbol and other classically inclined embellishments.

Prices for the Fab28 haven’t been touted, but similar models that come complete with a wine rack, bottle shelf and egg tray included retail for about $2,000. These will likely set you back a couple more boxes of ziti.

Molto bene.
