These ain’t your father’s speakers, but they should be yours.
Introducing Joey Roth’s new Bluetooth ceramic speakers, available now.
Handmade with porcelain, cork and minimally finished Baltic birch — “I work with ceramics because it’s a calm surface that contains tremendous energy,” says Roth — the speakers work best on a desktop in a bedroom, positioned about four feet apart.
Add in Roth’s cast iron/stainless steel subwoofer and the system shines as a home-theater system, working in rooms up to 1,000 square feet.
The speakers work with any Bluetooth device (e.g., your iPhone), require no software and sound nearly identical to a wired system (especially if you’re using FLAC or AAC files)
Roth also designs self-watering planters and some clever geometrically-inspired motivational work posters. Coming soon: an espresso maker, a video camera and a new version of Sorapot, possibly the world’s best designed teapot.
Sounds good to us.
