Buy a Bottle of the World’s Best Whiskey to Help Hurricane Victims

Booker's is giving back with a special batch of 13-year Rye

The best way you can help victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma?

Drink the world’s best whiskey. Seriously.

Booker’s Rye 13 Year Old, winner of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2017 award for, well, best whisky in the world (says Jim: “Brain-draining, mind-blowing … a staggering example of a magnificent rye showing exactly what genius in terms of whiskey actually means”), is making a comeback for charity.

With less than 10,000 bottles released, the original batch of the 13 Year Old rye was already difficult to find. But producer Beam Suntory just announced it’s producing an additional 276 bottles to raise money for people affected by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida. (UPDATE: These are not new bottles, according to a rep, but a release of the final 276 bottles. So, even more rare!)

And 100% of the proceeds will go to Feeding America food banks and Operation BBQ Relief.

Instead of the mark-up you’ll find on secondary markets, you’ll theoretically be able grab a bottle of this rare Booker’s release for the retail price of $299 — though many stores will probably have to offer it in a lottery to match demand, and they’re also free to do their own pricing.

No word on a final release date, but we’d suggest keeping tabs on Booker’s site and asking your favorite local liquor store.
