If there’s one thing we can say for sure about New York v. Chicago pizza debate, it’s this:

Homemade brick-oven pizza beats both.

Only probem? It doesn’t deliver. Psych — this one does.

The Relic Brick Oven is a piece of modular, portable cooking equipment designed to heat up to 800° F at its floor and 1,000° F at its top and fit on top of a standard 22” grill. Made from refractory composites — the same thing used to make the ladles that pour molten steel —   the Relic Oven can cook a pie in just 90 seconds after taking about 30 minutes to heat up.

The craftsmen at Tennessee Stone & Design chose to use the non-traditional material because they wanted to accomplish something that had never been done before: building a restaurant-quality brick oven for backyard chefs on-the-go.

The initial run of the ovens will be limited to 25 pieces, but a Kickstarter campaign to fund the oven — as well as a number of other pizza-related Tennessee Stone & Design — just launched.

The unit will run you between $1,095 and $1,195.

If you’re like us, that’ll pay for itself in a matter of months.
