I’m usually excited when a late-night vending machine run yields some Skittles and a recognizable brand of potato chips. Champagne would be cause for real celebration (which would require … Champagne).
Good news for bubbly fans: The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida, recently reopened and now offers a gold-rimmed Moët & Chandon Champagne dispenser in its lobby. Chilled to 30 degrees, you can grab 200mL bottles of Imperial Brut and Imperial Rose for $25 each, using gold coins purchased at the front desk (so, admittedly, it’s not great for spontaneity). And yes, the machine is built so your bottle gets a soft landing.
Not headed to Florida? There’s now also a bubbly vendor at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans, just a block from the French Quarter (just in time for Mardi Gras), along with hotels in Las Vegas, San Antonio, San Diego and more.
It’s not even the most luxurious item we’ve ever discovered in a vending machine: that honor would go to cars … which, when one gets stuck, is incredibly hard to fish out with your hand.
