Fact: standing desks are ugly.
And while their health and physiological benefits are real, they’re overstated.
But we can’t overstate this enough — the new sit/stand Smart Desk from SoCal designer Sean Woolsey might be the best looking and most versatile workspace we’ve ever witnessed.
This handsome black walnut, three-drawer escritoire will hide all your cables, wireless charge your devices and offer up multiple height options based on your standing (or sitting) preference.
And for the next few days, it’s $500 off.
It’s the latest and greatest furniture release from Woolsey, the SoCal-based craftsman responsible for some of the world’s best-looking shuffleboard tables, cutting boards and bar cabinets.
Woolsey’s other work is inspired by the outdoors and “imperfect things which bear the imprint of time.” The Woolsey Smart Desk, however, is nearly perfect in shape and function.
As the company notes: “We are totally biased, but we think we just launched the most beautiful and functional smart desk ever made.”
A year in the making and crafted from American Black Walnut with a black powder coated frame, the 60” x 30” desk features a hidden, embedded QI fast charger for wireless desktop charging.
The frame of the desk itself raises and lowers via a rather quiet electric dual motor system, with four stop locations so you can personalize your ideal height (which ranges from 24.5” to 49.5” inches).
Plus, the rounded corners and edges give this a comfier (and safer) feel.
Some other highlights:
- Integrated cable management under the desk
- A surge protector with six outlets and two USB ports
- Three American Black Walnut drawer fronts with soft close slides.
- The left and right drawers have cable slots to charge devices inside
- A walnut desk accessory organizer to stow in any drawer or on the desktop
The desk is available now for $3,000, but it’s $500 off if you order before July 13th, and you can stretch the balance into two payments. Shipping and insurance is an extra $640, and the desk arrives fully assembled.
If you want a bit more organization on top of your writing table, Woolsey recommends pairing the desk with a walnut desk shelf from Grovemade.
(Update 6/27/19: A headline was edited to add clarity to the final price. The desk is $500 “off” not, sadly, just $500)
