For the last three years, Tom Brady has been at work on a project tailor-made to heighten his profile and make one of today’s most ubiquitous athletes a little more ubiquitous. In this case, it doesn’t have anything to do with his gridiron exploits. Instead, Brady is making a move into menswear with a clothing line called Brady. (If you buy multiple options, will that make your purchase a Brady bunch? Only his agent knows for sure.)

This report comes via Men’s Health, and some of the other details in the article are of particular note for observers of the menswear scene. Brady’s co-founder for Brady is Jens Grede, who previously co-founded Frame Denim. On the design side, you might know Dao-Yi Chow’s name from his work with Public School New York and Sergio Tacchini.

WWD first broke the story, and their article has even more information — including the fact that the company will be using a direct-to-consumer model for the time being. Currently, the brand’s website has a mailing list signup, with WWD reporting that its launch is slated for December.

What can we expect from this? Press releases alluded to “an intelligently designed and highly engineered collection for optimal performance on and off the field.” As Men’s Health noted, this isn’t Brady’s first foray into fashion, but it certainly seems like the one for which the stakes are highest.
