It’s Official: “Bond 25” Stars an Aston Martin From the Timothy Dalton Era
Spotted in Norway, the car was previously used in "The Living Daylights"
James Bond is one of the most contentious film franchises of all time. The production of Bond 25, the working title for the next movie which has been plagued by delays, seems like it will never end. And the debate between the best actor — Craig, Moore or Connery — literally will never end. But when it comes to Timothy Dalton, who starred as the spy in the ‘80s, his films have proven forgettable.
His car, on the other hand, is making a comeback in a big way. During filming of “Bond 25” in Norway, local tabloid Dagbladet captured video of a classic Aston Martin V8 Vantage on set being filmed by a low-flying helicopter (in a kind of meta-Bond move) on the picturesque Atlantic Ocean Road. The only other film in the franchise where this specific Aston appears is Dalton’s The Living Daylights from 1987.
In case anyone is skeptical about the connection, the license plate seen on the new car, B549 WUU, is the same as the one in Daylights, according to Carscoops. Watch the video proof below:
It was previously reported that Bond 25 would feature an Aston Martin Rapide E, which would make Daniel Craig the first Bond to drive an electric vehicle. While this new development doesn’t discount that rumor, the EV hasn’t yet been spotted on set.
But with tabloids like Dagbladet staking out the production and unofficial Bond fan sites like MI6 HQ spreading the spy shots, where Carscoops found this video, you could conceivably put together most of Bond 25 before it hits theaters in 2020.
What’s the fun in that, though? We’ll gladly watch behind-the-scenes car shots, but you can keep the plot points to yourself, thank you very much.
