Almost a year after his death, David Bowie is still setting records. This time, it’s through “David Bowie Is,” an exhibition of his life and artistic work that debuted at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum three years ago. The exhibition will complete its international tour next year, and has been visited by over 1.5 million people, making it the most successful exhibition in the museum’s history.
The museum describes the exhibition as a demonstration of Bowie’s connections to art, design, theater, and pop culture in general; and boasts over 300 pieces from the David Bowie Archive, including handwritten lyrics, costumes, photographs, and performance material. Special attention is paid to Bowie’s relentless curiosity and evolving style, both musically and aesthetically, and how they shaped a career that spanned five decades.
