Today, at 12 p.m. EST, the United States got a new president.
At the same time, we also got a new WhiteHouse.gov — and what’s missing might alarm you. It certainly alarmed the rest of the Internet.
In the 2,283 words that summarize six key issues the Trump administration has identified and detailed its policy on (America First Energy Plan, America First Foreign Policy, Bringing Back Jobs And Growth, Making Our Military Strong Again, Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community and Trade Deals Working For All Americans), the word “environment” appears only once.
Education? Also once. Immigration, twice. Preceded by “illegal” in both instances.
All references to climate change and LGBT rights (and LGBT citizens in general) have been deleted. And while former President Barack Obama included all of these — as well as civil rights and healthcare — in his key issues online, President Trump’s version doesn’t include those in any purposeful way.
In fact, as Quartz points out, Trump’s top issue is to eliminate all efforts to curb climate change.
So, what is there to do? We must work together. Here are organizations you can donate to right now to make sure these issues are not forgotten.
