Comedian John Oliver slammed Sinclair Broadcasting on Sunday night for requiring its local news anchors to read a script on-air condemning what they called “false news? from national media organizations. The spots claim the mainstream media is “using their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think.”

Sinclair, which already reaches 40 percent of American households, could reach up to 72 percent if their Tribune Media acquisition is approved. Some of the anchors required to read the pro-Trump messaging have called it “manipulative” and said they “felt like a POW recording a message.”
