Sean Spicer stopped by Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night to tout his forthcoming memoir The Briefing — and the comedian had some tough questions waiting for him.
“You talk about loyalty to the president and your job as press secretary. Which do you think is more important? Loyalty, or the truth?” Kimmel asked. “Did you always go out and maintain your credibility in the truth?”
Spicer told Kimmel that he often felt he was unfairly skewered for communicating beliefs that the president had — not necessarily ones that he believed himself, and noted that “that’s not the job.”
“You’re not saying, ‘I’m going to agree with you on everything.’ You’re saying, “I will do the best job that I can communicating the thoughts, beliefs and idea that you have,” Spicer said.
