It looks like James Franco will be staying on HBO’s The Deuce despite sexual harassment allegations against him. HBO plans to start filming the second season in a few weeks. Franco’s status on the show had been questioned after five women came forward to The Los Angeles Times with allegations of sexual misconduct against the actor, who is one of the main stars of the show and the executive producer. HBO said that it reached out to staffers on the show and found no complaints or concerns about Franco’s behavior on The Deuce. Franco plays twin brothers on the show and has directed episodes on top of exec producing with creators/showrunners George Pelecanos and David Simon. The show, set in the 1970s, chronicles the start of the modern pornography business in New York City. A source told Variety that there was no backup plan if Franco, whose character’s storyline is integral to season two, were forced out. Franco has repeatedly denied the allegations. In January, Simon said Franco’s conduct had been “entirely professional” while on the set of The Deuce.
