How Cindy Crawford Is Role-Model to Her Fashionable Children

'Kids don’t always listen, but they are always watching what you do,' Crawford told Town & Country.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has been the face of the industry for more than forty years, and now, she’s passing a beacon of humility and tenacity on to the next generation — through her children.

Presley, 18, and Kaia, 16, are already sweeping through the fashion industry, modeling for brands like Dolce & Gabana, Prada, Chanel, Fendi and Marc Jacobs. The siblings also sell jeans together for Calvin Klein — and under mom and dad’s careful watch. Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, have worked to raise their children “by example” and keep them from getting too caught up in their external beauty.

“Kids don’t always listen, but they are always watching what you do. If you’re polite to people, they learn to be polite. If you make family time a priority, they don’t even question spending time together,” Crawford told Town and Country. “If I’m constantly berating myself in front of them—I look old, I have more wrinkles every year, I can’t have that dessert because I’ll get fat—then they learn to do the same thing. You lead by example.”
