Production Begins for Lightning Fast All-Electric Maserati Alfieri

The Tesla Roadster competitor boasts a 0-62 mph time of less than two seconds.

Head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati Tim Kuniskis announced recently that the fully-electric Maserati Alfieri is finally going into production, according to Luxurylaunches. The long-rumored Alfieri concept was first showcased in 2014.

The Alfieri is designed to compete with the other major upcoming electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster. “It may look like we are targeting Tesla: we are. We are going to accomplish this by bringing to market something that no one in the industry can match,” Kuniskis said at FCA’s Capital Market Day.

The Alfieri will use 800V battery technology and accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in less than two seconds. Available as a coupe or a convertible, the Alfieri claims a top speed of more than 186 miles per hour. As RCL wrote last year, the production of the Alfieri has been delayed time and again since its initial announcement, and now should be available for purchase by 2020.
