Stock Mfg Wants You to Wear More Flannel, Please and Thank You

The Chicago-made brand just debuted four crispy kits for fall

New York’s got power suits. L.A. has California casual. And San Francisco is the land of commuter pants and tech fleece.

But what’s Chicago’s signature piece of menswear?

We nominate the flannel shirt, a transitional piece that’s equally adept as an October top layer or December bottom layer.

And no one knows that better than Stock Mfg, the Chicago-made brand that just dropped a collection of crispy flannels that fit the bill. These are, in their words, “the nicest flannels we’ve ever released,” made from soft-yet-sturdy 5-oz. cotton that won’t lose its shape over time. The shirts also cut an office-appropriate figure, long enough to tuck into chinos but not so long that you’ll look like a kid playing dress-up if you opt not to.

The shirt features custom Stock buttons and a button-down collar, and you’ve got four classic colorways to choose from: a navyblack or forest gingham along with our favorite, a classic blue-on-green Tartan plaid.

As for what to pair them with? Stock also recently released a rain-ready khaki trenchcoat, flannel-lined taffeta coach’s jacket and some butter-soft Japanese twill cotton chinos.

You can find all the above via their website, or visit them in the flesh at their brick and mortar in West Town (2136 Fulton St.).
