Neematic's FR/1 E-Bike Fuses Mountain Bike and Dirt Bike

Rule no. 1 of mountain biking: you gotta get up to get down.

Which means pedaling. Strenuously. Sometimes for hours.

Or at least it meant pedaling. Past tense. Then this came along:

The lightweight FR/1, a hybrid motocross/mountain bike that can hit a top speed of 62 MPH and provide riders with a range of up to 60 miles on a full charge.

Made by Lithuania-based Neematic, the FR/1 runs off a 2.2 kWh lithium-ion battery mounted onto its aluminum frame, and the powerful e-bike is able to handle off-roading with ease thanks to a powerful suspension paired with components like Fox shocks and Hope Tech disc brakes.

“We’ve been able to integrate the motor in the frame and remove unsprung mass in the rear wheel,” said Neematic co-founder Domas Zinkevicius. “It is this weight distribution alongside the bike’s immense torque that puts Neematic at the frontier of high performance e-bikes.”

After an electric debut at Intermot 2016 in Germany, Neematic plans to take preorders before starting production of the FR/1 in 2017. If you can’t wait, request a test drive in the meantime.
