These Italian Moto Jackets Look Even Better Off the Road

Dainese: Cool leather wares with a real racing pedigree

“Dress for the job you want.”

Sound advice.

A good place to start acting on that advice? Settantadue, a new line of Italian-crafted motorcycle leathers from Dainese, available now.

We’re already big fans of Dainese, who have been churning out exceptional moto gear since 1972. It’s protective, sure, but it also looks good off the bike (or slopes, or horse … actually, think of Dainese more as lifestyle wares for anything that gets you going).

They’re also a brand that brings some suiting concepts into the racing world, offering fully-customized and made-to-measure motorcycle racing suits, jackets and pants (a North American fitting tour just ended, but if you’re in Europe you can visit one of their Custom Works Centers).

Settantadue, their newest collection, commemorates the brand’s 45th anniversary. They’ve taken some classic racer silhouettes, slimmed ‘em down a bit and added some modern performance features. Everything is built from soft cowhide leather and features removable Pro-Armor protectors and an artsy, moto-themed print on the cotton liner.

The new stuff:

Rapida72: Utilizes the two-piece leathers that the brand intro’d back in the ‘70s. This is your classic full-body black leather getup.

Freccia72: A reimagining of Dainese’s vintage motifs (twin horizontal bands, vertical stripes on the sleeves, and an arrow — or “freccia” — on the back). Available in black, but the blue and red truly stand out.

If you’re looking for more of a straight-ahead leather jacket, the Patina72 is a brown beauty that’s soft, supple and brandishes a unique patina. And you can pair of ‘em all with like-minded boots and bike gloves.

Now you look the part. Go act on it.
