Up for Grabs: All-OG 1993 Carrera RSR With Only 6 Miles, Somehow

We're gonna call him Jackpot and love him forever

The person who ordered the 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR RM Sotheby’s has slated for auction next month must’ve been something of an odd duck.

It’s not that they had the track-ready model’s exterior doused in polar silver metallic body paint, requested the installation of purple wheel spokes and gold brake calipers, or insisted the car’s interior, including the dashboard, steering wheel and roll cage, be coated in bright red leather.

Nope. The reason we’re calling them weird is because, after getting one of the coveted 51 911 Carrera RSRs that Porsche ever produced (as in ever), they drove it for a grand total of six miles. SIX.

To be clear, they had the opportunity to be pushing the 350-HP car’s naturally aspirated 3.8-liter motor to the limit (top speed of 163 MPH, by the way) and doing 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It’s just that they chose not to.

Still, as the saying goes, one person’s terrible decision is another person’s holy grail of all auction purchase. The car — which is still covered in factory-applied Cosmoline coating — is hitting the block on May 27th in Italy where it’s expected to fetch as much as $2.4 million.
