Bringing the comforts of home with you when traveling is easier today than ever before. From the high seas to the open road, upscale amenities have made travel more luxurious, even if you’re camping.

Autonomous Tent’s has reinvented the conventional tent with this fabric structure that looks like a sea shell. It’s been outfitted with all the comforts of home, including a wood-burning stove, wooden porch, floor-to-ceiling windows, and ensuite bathroom with full shower and toilet. It’s almost unfair to call their design a tent, since it’s basically a portable apartment.

The company offers two models that can be customized to preference: the 700-square-foot Cocoon and the 1,000-square foot Tipi. The Cocoon measures 12 feet high, with a base of 24 feet by 36 feet. The Tipi has a height of 26 feet, measuring 46 feet and 36 feet at its base. Yet despite their size, the structures can be raised in a few days. Like a tent, the Cocoon and Tipi can be disassembled and moved easily without any residual environmental impact.

Comprised of a high-tech, translucent fabric, the exterior is mildew, rot and pest resistant, and can be further insulated if needed. The tent frames are an amalgam of steel and aluminum tubes and, despite its appearance, the temporary structure is designed to withstand hurricane force winds and heavy snow loads.

The design also incorporates access to local campsite utilities like gas, electric, water, and sewage if they are provided. If you wish to go truly off-grid, solar panels provide enough power to small LED lights, pumps, water filters, and composting system for the toilet. Additionally, solar water heaters means you won’t have to give up hot showers either. The structure’s utilities can also be adapted for a grey water system for minimal environmental impact.

These luxurious amenities, combined with the tent’s modern design, make for a five-star hotel experience in the middle of desert, deep in a forest, or on a mountaintop–wherever you choose really. The Cocoon costs $100,000, while the Tipi sells for $200,000. To order a Cocoon or Tipi for yourself, find more information here.
