Syrian Refugee Pays Tribute to New Home With Artistic Film
The German city of Darmstadt is known as the “City of Science,” because it is home to many scientific institutions, universities, and tech companies. It is also now home to Syrian filmmaker Waref Abu Quba. Born just outside of Damascus, Quba sought asylum in Germany in 2014. The refugee made this short film “Stadt, Licht, & Bewegung” (below) as a way of giving thanks to the city that took him in. His experimental film took 18 months of continuous work to produce. You can find more of Quba’s films here. RealClearLife recommends “In Damascus.”
