Looking for inspiration for your private getaway? A literal room with a view? View as in the entire lakeward wall is made of glass?

You find the land. For the space, you’re going to want to take some close notes from the Balnarring Retreat, by Melbourne firm Branch Studio Architects.

Retreat (8 images)

It’s basically one massive, wood-paneled room with a giant glazed window situated to frame the view. Functional, non-beautiful elements — like a Murphy bed — are tucked away to prevent visual clutter. The bathroom and kitchen are similarly minimized to prevent distraction from this retreat’s raison d’être: the view.

Time to find a suitable property? Here are some mountain lots near Denver (“lots and acreage starting at $7,500!”) to get you going.
