Blink and You’ll Miss It: Flights to the Caribbean for $55

That might be less than your average bar tab

A recent survey contended that a huge number of us didn’t get even a few paltry days off for summer vacation this year.

So why not try to right the ship with Delta’s ongoing, and ridiculous, fare sale to the Caribbean: We’re talking $55 to Barbados or seven bucks more for service to the Cayman Islands.

Once you’re there, you have two options: keep things on the cheap side or go all out (you did just save a ton of money on your airfare). For a luxe option on Barbados, we recommend the Fairmont Royal Pavillion, on the private Platinum Beach; guests can also make use of the freshwater pool, tennis courts, beachside restaurants and resort-wide wifi. On the opposite side of the price spectrum, try an Airbnb guesthouse from about $45.

For the Caymans: Book in at the brand-spanking-new Kimpton Seafire (available from November) on the splurge side. For a budget pick, we like something slightly off-beach, like Sunshine Suites (a five-minute walk will save you a hundred bucks a night) or a private rental via VRBO or similar.

Bon voyage.
