After gaining notoriety for being featured on Netflix’s Last Chance U,  the head football coach at Independence Community College in Kansas has resigned for allegedly referencing Hitler in a text to a German player.

Jason Brown’s resignation comes after a story in the Montgomery County Chronicle detailed how the coach allegedly told freshman Alexandros Alexio, “I am your new Hitler.”

Brown made the comment while texting with Alexiou about his status on the team and why his actions — which led to discipline from Brown — were roster spot and scholarship at risk.

On Monday, Brown announced his decision to resign in a Twitter post.

“Given what has most recently been allowed to transpire, it is clear, that it will be nearly impossible to stay here,” Brown said in part. “More plainly, the Montgomery County Chronicle has greatly diminished my ability to successfully do my job, and has set this football program back significantly, and the cumulative effect of all these detrimental factors I believe clearly constitute a constructive discharge of my employment.”

Following the ext exchange, Alexiou spoke with several assistant coaches, the school’s compliance officer, and filed a report of discrimination.

His scholarship has not been revoked, according to the school.
