Brewers Want Josh Hader to “Re-earn the Trust” of Teammates After Racist Tweets

Reliever Josh Hader has his work cut out for him to earn back the trust of his team following an All-Star Game fiasco that involved the discovery of racist and homophobic tweets from his past.

The talented pitcher, who apologized for the tweets after the game, may address his teammates collectively when he rejoins the Milwaukee Brewers today.

Brewers G.M. David Stearns thinks Hader can win back the team, but it won’t be easy.

“He’s going to have to work very hard to re-earn the trust of some people who may question who he is right now,” Stearns said. “I think I know who Josh Hader is, and I personally do not believe that these comments represent who he is as a person.”

Though he wasn’t formally disciplined by the league or the Brewers, the MLB is requiring Hader to undergo sensitivity training and take part in diversity and inclusion initiatives.

According to The Associated Press, Hader’s teammates seem eager to accept his apologies.
