Time is a variable.
Maybe Einstein was talking about the timepieces at Only Watch.
Every two years the world’s leading watchmakers release a series of one-off, wholly unique chronographs for Only Watch, a charity push for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This year, the auction will be handled by Christie’s and take place in Geneva on November 11th.
Want a sneak peek? We pulled out five watches that truly disrupt time:
Hautlence Pinball BALL-e
A good way to pass the time. A working mechanical pinball game within a titanium case. When it gets dark, a luminescent robot face (BALL-e) appears.
Konstantin Chaykin Joker
A watch with a constantly changing, always creepy face: The Joker’s “eyes” alter with the hours and minutes, while the mouth transforms via a moon phase indicator.
Louis Vuitton Escale Spin Time Black & Fire
An array of orange patterns highlights this colorful timepiece, with comes with a personalized trunk, a visit to the company’s Paris workshop and a lunch with the Master Watchmaker.
De Bethune Piece Unique
“Piece Unique” indeed. You’re not really going to wear this horological Frankenstein, which is based on the architecture of the Monaco’s yacht club.
Laurent Ferrier & Urwerk
An oblong, mirrored beauty made from a unique alloy that’s “like streamlined coachwork, fluid and without any affront to the eye,” according to co-creator Laurent Ferrier.
If you want a closer look, you can witness many of these unusual horological wonders during the Only Watch world tour, which hits Los Angeles and New York in the fall (along with several other cities around the globe).
