Online travel booker Expedia just did a deep dive into its data and shared a list of the five airports that’ll suck the most over Labor Day weekend.
Some people will be obligated to attend inopportune family events, participate in destination weddings or pick up a dog abandoned on a beach in Turks and Caicos (this has actually happened). Flying under all those circumstances: we get it. But if you’re considering willingly objecting yourself to the indignities of airline travel on the last weekend of summer (unofficial), may we humbly propose: Don’t do it. Don’t be that guy. Don’t try to stuff a weeklong adventure adventure into a 3.5-day space.
That’s not what Labor Day was made for. Labor Day was made for figuring out the nearest temperate body of water (ocean, river, lake: all fine; we’re avoiding anything where brain-eating amoebas live for the time being). Go lay down next to it. Bring a book, a grill, a girl and some friends.
If you spend half your break in an air-conditioned airplane terminal … don’t say we didn’t warn you.
For the record, the other three airports to avoid Labor Day weekend are JFK, O’Hare, and LAX. (Duh.) Equally obvious: The worst travel day will be Friday.
Trust. Nearest beach. Lady. Grill. Friends. Done. Travel ambition, in the context of a three-day weekend, is not always our friend.
