You Can Now Stay in a Tiny Home Park Two Minutes from Glacier National Park

National Parks are no longer just for former Eagle Scouts.

A recent crop of park-adjacent lodging, from spa retreats in Utah to Airstream camps in Yosemite, has brought luxury options for those who want to see American’s natural wonders but don’t want to wake up with 45 fresh bug bites.

The latest addition in this realm is Tiny Homes at St. Mary Village, a collection of 10 colorful micro-homes situated along the eastern entrance to Montana’s Glacier National Park. Each home sleeps up to four, with a queen bed and trundle bed, and comes with complimentary wifi, a mini-fridge, microwave and stove, and an assortment of outdoor furniture.

It’s not the Four Seasons, to be sure, though the interiors do include baths and gorgeous local timber. But it’s an obvious step up from tenting, van-ing or staying in a motel down the road from the park. If you’ve got a car, you can easily take the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road into Glacier, and if you don’t, hitch a brief ride on the East Side Shuttle.

Certain park purists might scoff at Tiny Homes village and its acolytes, but it’s another way to get people interacting with the outdoors, and in a creative, sustainable way. The homes leave little footprint, employing grey-water systems and energy efficient appliances, and are not actually in the park, making it easier for people to enjoy Glacier without leaving a trace behind.

Rates start at $290 a night, and bookings run through September 26th.
