Sky Pool at Hotel Hubertus in South Tyrol is 40 Feet Up

In theory, the wellness resort’s purpose is to help guests recover from some type of injury, ailment or seismic life event.

While that mostly holds true for guests who visit the Hotel Hubertus in South Tyrol, Italy, there’s one condition they are powerless to correct under any circumstance: vertigo.

Perched 40 feet above the ground on wooden stilts, the resort’s main attraction is an 82-feet-long pool with a glazed glass front and bottom area that’s filled with water from the nearby Dolomites.

One of six heated pools at the establishment, the Sky Pool was designed for the Hubertus resort by the NOA architecture studio in order to give guests the “feeling of floating weightlessly between heaven and earth” and “create the impression of the water flowing into nothing.”

Made of anthracite-colored stone that’s supposed to blend in with the mountains that surround it, the pool was part of an extension that also comprises 16 suites, a restaurant and a lounge.
