It doesn’t make up for the Super Bowl or World Series, but Los Angeles finally beat Boston.
During LeBron James’ first visit to Boston as a member of the Lakers, it was a former Celtic who won the game for Los Angeles.
With the Lakers trailing by a point with the game clock ticking down to zero, Rajon Rondo became an unlikely hero when he corralled a rebound and canned a buzzer-beater to give LA a 129-128 upset win over the Celtics.
“I practice those shots all the time,” Rondo, not known for his shooting, said after the game. “Couldn’t imagine it being in the Garden though. … This is one I’ll be playing for the rest of my life.”

James had a triple-double in the win and finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. Kyle Kuzma added 25 points and Rondo chipped in with 17 points and 10 assists in the win.
“I’m starting to get more and more back to myself,” James said. “Every possession, every quarter, every time I take a hit, I’m able to nudge it off and keep going. I’m working my way back and I’m getting better and better every single minute.”
Despite getting 24 points and eight assists from Kyrie Irving and 22 points and 10 rebounds from Jayson Tatum, the Celtics had their five-game win streak snapped.
