President Donald Trump told Fox and Friends that NFL owners are “afraid” to react to their players protesting the national anthem at games. He said that “the NFL is in a box and they have to do something about it,” reports FoxHe continued by saying, “I think they’re afraid of their players, if you want to know the truth.”

Trump also repeated a former statement, saying that the NFL has a lot of rules and they should make new rules about those players who kneel during the anthem. He said that the NFL “has rules against everything” and he questions why they won’t honor the country by enforcing this rule.

Trump’s comments come days after more than 100 NFL players took a knee before or during the national anthem during games. Trump criticized players who protested the anthem last week, calling them “sons of bitches” and saying they should be fired.
