Tom Brady sat out of the New England Patriots’ practice on Thursday, and also did not speak to reporters as scheduled, on Thursday due to a right-hand injury. New England is preparing for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars for the AFC championship this Sunday. The 40-year-old quarterback wore a glove on the injured hand during the stretching portion of practice and was listed as a non-participant on the injury report. It fell to backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to address the situation. He told reporters he did not see how Brady got hurt and would not elaborate on how much he’s been able to do in practice the last two days. Hoyer said he is “always preparing to play because the truth of reality is you never know when your name’s gonna be called,” according to Yahoo. However, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone expects his defense to line up against Brady, not Hoyer. “I’m sure he can throw left-handed if he has a problem with his right hand, you know, and throw it just as well,” he said according to Yahoo. During his 18-year career, Brady has never missed a playoff start. In fact, he has not missed any start because of injury since he sat out the final 15 games of the 2008 season after tearing ligaments in his left knee during the New England season opener that year. He did miss the first four games of 2016 while serving his “Deflategate” suspension.
