It has taken a while, but it looks like the defense of the Chicago Bears is done hibernating.
Already showing signs of life in the preseason, the Bears defense got an enormous upgrade before Week 1 when the team traded for All-Pro Khalil Mack and signed him to a long-term deal.
That was evident on the field during a loss to the Green Bay Packers to open the season and even more obvious last night when Chicago won on their home field against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
During the win over the ‘Hawks, the Bears defense sacked Russell Wilson six times (one by Mack) and intercepted him and returned it for a touchdown. Mack also forced a fumble.
Six sacks.

And he had help. Linebacker Danny Trevathan (two sacks and a forced fumble) was all over the place and outside linebacker Aaron Lynch and talented rookie Roquan Smith both made plays.
“People don’t show us enough respect,” Trevathan said after the game. “This could be one of the special groups of linebackers, like [Brian] Urlacher, but we have to believe in it and keep stacking games up like this.”
If they can, they’ll be plenty of more moments to celebrate like this. Good news for Chicago fans; bad news for the rest of the NFL.
