The good news: NHL fans have a chance to spend a night with the most famous trophy in sports.
The bad news: Spending the night with Lord Stanley’s Cup will require sleeping in Tampa Bay, Florida.
In order to raise money for the team’s charity, the Tampa Bay Lightning are turning a luxury suite at Amalie Arena into a one-night Airbnb and the Stanley Cup will be there to attend the sleepover.
Starting on Monday at noon, one fan will be able to make a $5,000 reservation to spend the night at Amalie Arena on April 24 with five friends.
“Spend the night like a champion in this once-in-a-lifetime, pinch-me-this-can’t-be-happening, we’re-gonna-need-more-hyphens experience when you spend an evening with the most famous trophy in sports at Amalie Arena, home of the World Champion Tampa Bay Lightning,” reads the listing on Airbnb. “We transformed a luxury box at Amalie Arena into your very own private guest room suite, offering unprecedented access to Amalie Arena. But that’s just the beginning of your VIP treatment. Throughout your stay, you’ll enjoy an itinerary packed with hockey experiences any Bolts fan would dream of cross-checking off their bucket list.”
Things guests can do during their stay include: enjoying a five-course meal, popping champagne during a private happy hour, skating on the ice, touring Amalie Arena, viewing a movie on the humongous Lightning Vision screen, sounding the goal siren, playing the arena’s organ and taking a Zamboni ride.
Though breakfast is included, touching the thermostat is strictly prohibited and fighting with other guests will result in a game misconduct penalty and immediate ejection from the Airbnb.
Unfortunately for out-of-state residents, all guests who request to book the suite must be Tampa Bay residents and currently live in the same household to minimize the risk of COVID-19.
