Following in the footsteps of pro wrestlers John Cena and Daniel Bryan, Tiger Woods has declined to take his talents to Saudi Arabia in the wake of the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
However, unlike Cena and Bryan, Woods left about $3 million on the table in doing so.
Turning down what reportedly would have been his largest payday ever for playing in an official overseas tournament, Woods rejected an invitation to appear at the European Tour’s inaugural event in Saudi Arabia next year.
It’s possible Woods declined the offer simply because he wants to limit his travel but, considering he has previously played in countries like China and the United Arab Emirates for a payday, that seems unlikely.
Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, and Paul Casey are already signed up to play in the government-sponsored Saudi International event.
