David Price and Steve Pearce were the stars of the night as the Sox won 5-1.

Clayton Kershaw’s sixth pitch of the Game 5 of the World Series left the yard off the bat of journeyman Steve Pearce for a two-run homer that staked the Red Sox to a league they would not relinquish.

For the Red Sox, David Price turned in his third excellent start in a row and held the Dodgers to a single run as Boston cruised to a 5-1 win and another World Series title. It took them just five games to take the series behind vastly superior hitting to their NL opponents.

Pearce had three homers (including a second solo shot last night) and seven RBIs in the final 11 innings of the Series. Sox sluggers JD Martinez and Mookie Betts also chipped in with solo shots last night but it was Price, who had been 0-9 in 11 postseason starts before defeating Astros ace Justin Verlander in the clinching Game 5 of the AL Championship Series, and Pearce who were the true stars of the night.

“I’ve been through a lot in three years since I came here, but this is why I came,” Price said.

Pearce’s heroics were enough to earn him World Series MVP over other qualified candidates like Price and reliever Nathan Eovaldi.

Following the series win, manager Alex Cora rallied his troops one final time in the locker room.

And, once you win the World Series, you can engage in a little trolling.

And some partying.
