LeBron on Lonzo Ball: “He Just Doesn’t Realize How Great He Is”

James sees greatness as well as a 21-year-old who is too passive on the floor.

From Dwayne Wade to Kyrie Irving, LeBron James has played alongside some stellar playmakers over the course of his NBA career.

So, when he says his current point guard and Los Angeles Lakers teammate Lonzo Ball has the potential to be great, it probably makes sense to listen.

At least it would for Ball because, although James sees his promise, he also sees a 21-year-old who is too passive on the floor.

Those passive tendencies have led Ball’s numbers to drop from 10.2 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds as a rookie down to an 8.3/4.6/5.6 in his sophomore campaign playing alongside James.

For the Lakers to get where they want to go, James believes Ball has to get more aggressive and keep learning with each passing game.

“I think every game is a teaching point for him,” James said. “I think sometimes he just doesn’t realize how great he is. When Zo realizes how good he is on the floor, it makes him a very dynamic player, and it makes us even better.”

At 11-9, the Lakers currently sit in seventh place in the Western Conference.
