Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, Giants coach Pat Shurmur shared his opinion about what the future will hold for franchise players Eli Manning and Odell Beckham.

Though the team will eventually have to replace him, it sounds as if Shurmur is preparing to have Manning under center for at least one more season.

“I think Eli can help us win games,” Shurmur said. “And he proved when we started — the players around him started playing better – that he can play at a high level and help us win games. At this point, I want Eli back. He’s back and ready to go.”

Entering his 16th professional season, Manning is due a base salary of $11.5 million in 2019.

His top target, Beckham, has been the subject of a slew of trade rumors -some of which date back to last season – which Shurmur declined to discuss when talking about the talented wideout’s future in NYC.

Shurmur refused to answer if the team was considering trading Beckham this offseason, but did say he was looking forward to working with Beckham when the offseason program gets underway.

He also said their relationship is in a good place and that Beckham is fully recovered from a quad injury that hampered him last season.

Last year, the Giants finished with a 5-11 record, the second straight season New York finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
