Eli Manning Doesn’t Believe Sunday Will Be His Final Start for the Giants

New York ends the regular season against the Cowboys on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

As his 15th season in the NFL comes to an end, Eli Manning has a question to answer: will it be his last?

Well, if the longtime New York Giants quarterback has anything to say about it, nope.

“I think you know when it’s done or when your body can’t do it, or you can’t stay healthy or you can’t make the throws,” Manning said Wednesday in the Giants’ locker room. “So, I still feel strong. I think I can still play and still make the throws and run an offense and win football games.”

Turning 38, Manning has reached the age when many of the game’s best quarterbacks – including Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Steve Young, and Phil Simms – have called it a career.

Manning has started every game for the Giants (5-10) this season and the G-Men may indeed bring him back next year, but even if they do it seems the end is near.

Even with New York ending the regular season against the Cowboys on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in what could be Manning’s final start for New York, don’t expect Manning to admit it.

“[I’m] just worried about this game and finishing the season, going out there and playing hard,” Manning said. “I view it as the last game of this season, and that’s it. I’ve never thought about, I want to play this many more years or that many more years. That just never came up. We’ll figure it all out. We’ll figure it all out next year.”

Hopefully, for his sake, Manning will still be in New York.
