Heading into Thursday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins, there were whispers Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson would be limited by the rib and lung injuries that have plagued him in recent weeks.
They were very, very incorrect.
The second-year quarterback was masterful against Miami on Thursday Night Football and tossed a five-pack of touchdown passes as Houston cruised to a 42-23 win over the Fins.

Watson finished with only 239 passing yards for the game but also had only four incomplete passes.
His touchdowns went to wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins (two), Will Fuller (one), and rookie tight end Jordan Thomas (two). Unfortunately for Fuller and the team, it looks like he tore his ACL last night and will be out for the season.
“We were executing, sticking to the details, playing free,” Watson said after the game. “We got our swagger back today. We just wanted to have fun and try and light up the scoreboard in prime time, and that’s what we did.”
With the win, their fifth in a row, the Texans now sit at 5-3 atop the AFC South and have a commanding lead over the 3-4 Jaguars, 3-4 Titans and 2-5 Colts in the division.
Thanks to the loss, the Dolphins are now 4-4 in the AFC East.
