Though he is unable to attend, Dennis Rodman tried to use his connection to Kim Jong-un to broker a deal between the North Korean leader and President Donald Trump at the summit in Vietnam.
Prior to the two leaders meeting in Hanoi, Rodman – an “Ambassador of Goodwill to North Korea” and NBA Hall of Famer – wished Trump and Kim the “best of luck” in a letter he posted to Twitter.
“My continued friendship with Chairman Kim remains strong — a friendship I encourage you to continue to use for our nation’s benefit,” Rodman wrote. “We have a lot of work to do, but with your diverse team, amazing global contacts and willingness to think outside the box, we can have peace on the Korean Peninsula. We really can.”
The two-time NBA All-Star, who met and befriended Kim during a visit to North Korea in 2013, continued: “You are on the cusp of a big, beautiful deal. One that would make you the front runner for a Nobel Peace Prize without question. You have my forever and forever support!”
