It’s a bad day for the Bills Mafia but a good day for the safety of portable tailgating tables in the greater Buffalo area.
In an attempt to curb the behavior — which includes jumping into tables and public urination defecation and fornication — that sometimes takes place in parking lots in Orchard Park before Buffalo Bills home games, the franchise will now require fans who arrive in buses to purchase access to the club’s new “Tailgate Village.”
Access will be pricey, with a 20-person vehicle going for $300, a 40-passenger vehicle costing $600 and a 60-person vehicle running fans $900. Overall, the Tailgate Village has room for 4,000 fans.
“Our No. 1 concern as an organization is fan safety,” Buffalo VP of operations and guest experience Andy Major told The Buffalo News. “When you’re seeing what was happening in the bus lot the last couple seasons, especially last year, it gets very concerning. It’s dangerous behavior, not just negative fan behavior. It’s dangerous to security, the sheriffs and staff who are trying to police things.”
This is some of the behavior the move is hoping to curtail.

I completely forgot Bills fans were close enough to head to a #WrestleMania tailgate. I hope there were ambulances near familiar with this foolishness. pic.twitter.com/Dsa5nMKuNZ

We’ll get a chance to see if the measure is effective on August 8th when the Colts travel to play the Bills in the NFL preseason.
